When moving to Malta in September 2019 Samuel had two stipulations when it came to the location of his new home; it had to be close to a good pub and a decent restaurant. He struck lucky with 'The Plough and Anchor’ (detailed elsewhere) and again with “Frescos’ across the road.
Just a couple of hundred yards from Samuel’s abode, on the sea front of Sliema is the excellent “Frescos’. Whether you just want a drink whilst enjoying the great view, are just wanting a snack or a full three-course Dinner, Frescos can cater for you.
It is a very busy place, with great views and friendly and helpful staff. In the past months Samuel has spent many happy hours trying the full range of dishes on the menu and has yet to find something he didn’t enjoy.
Frescos has an extensive choice of Pasta, Samuel particularly enjoys ‘Linguine with mixed Shellfish, 'Maltese style Spaghetti Rabbit’ and Tagliatelle with Smoked Duck Breast and Asparagus’, the last dish being a particular favourite! Frescos offer you Pasta in two sizes; starter or main, the starter size is more than enough unless you're really hungry!
It also has an extensive range of pizzas, all of which are excellent, two favourites being ‘Ciao Mamma’ (with smoked salmon and sun-dried tomatoes) and ‘Pizza Gondola’;a folded-over pizza, filled with mushrooms and blue cheese, with a ‘funnel’ in the middle drizzled with honey, fabulous with a decent glass of Italian red wine (Samuel hasn’t found a decent Maltese red yet…)
They also have a regular range of specials (one of them always a fish dish), the Belly Pork Samuel tried one time was excellent and good value.
