Yesterday, on a trip to Gaućin, myself and friend looked for somewhere for lunch. Most of the village seemed to be shut on a Wednesday in January, so we headed down the coast to Sotogrande. We got to 'The Hairy Lemon ' (an awful name for a great place to eat) in the Port, looking forward to their usual great version of tapas, to find that it is closed until the 1st of February (for renovation work).
We then headed to nearby Torreguadiaro, which is rapidly becoming a 'Foodie's paradise'. On 'SamuelPeeps', I've already reviewed La Verandah, Inboca, Pura Tapas and Korma. I will be adding 'Sindikato' (I've been told it's amazing) and the place we visited yesterday; Cancha Tapas.
There are three excellent modern tapas place situated together on the main road in Torreguadiaro and impressively, they all had several diners in there at 2pm on a Wednesday afternoon.
Cancha Tapas is nearest to Sotogrande Port and is the 'sister' restaurant to La Cancha Dos,. It has the same amazing quality of food and service and is very good value. We chose two items each; with my friend ordering the Shin Pork for the first dish, whilst I ordered the Smoked Sardines with Mango and Caramelised Almonds, both were superb! For the second dish we both ordered the 18hr cooked Rib of Beef, which was outstanding!
Cancha Tapas is highly recommended! I will be going back soon and will do a full review.
Do yourself a favour and get down to Guadiaro, it is a fabulous place to eat!
